Home of Marcelo A. Alcazar music
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Colorado, Marcelo was already performing at the age of 12.
He gravitated to the stage playing Andean folkloric music mixed in with other exotic sounds of Latin American music. As a multi-instrumentalist he played on a variety of string and wind instruments (Spanish Guitar, Charango and Quena) from Bolivia, Chile, Peru and Argentina with his uncle doing weekly engagements in a variety of settings and venues.
Pursuing music in the 6th grade as a drummer/percussionist, Marcelo started as a snare drummer in the marching band drum line through high school and later as a bassist and guitarist in Jazz ensembles participating in and winning state-wide music competitions with other schools and regional music academies.
Later as a dedicated guitarist, he became influenced by Blues Rock of the 70’s, Progressive Metal and Jazz Fusion but always with a strong connection to the nylon and steel-string acoustic guitar.
In 1990 while living in the SF Bay Area, Marcelo moved to Los Angeles to attend Musician’s Institute (GIT) in Hollywood to study music theory, composition and performance. He was exposed to a variety of music styles, and players such as Fusion master Scott Henderson, renowned Jazz guitarist Norman Brown, Rock legend Tim Bogert (Jeff Beck, Vanilla Fudge, Cactus), Master guitarists/educators Don Mock, Keith Wyatt, Dan Gilbert and Ross Bolton to name a few.
A deep exposure to traditional Jazz, Funk Fusion and World Music, opened up and transformed his playing. After graduating from MI, Marcelo gained invaluable live performance experience throughout the 90’s in various bands, projects and sessions as a member and sideman playing many different styles 5-nights a week, clocking over 1000 gigs within the decade while writing and recording Jazz/ Rock Fusion instrumentals. As his knowledge in music theory and songwriting expanded he began to teach guitar privately.
In 2000, Marcelo briefly shifted away from live playing to refine his production skills in the early days of Digital Audio recording within the home studio environment. He began his journey by building his project studio one piece of gear at a time. He shifted to Apple Logic Pro in 2010 and became a certified Logic Pro Trainer while producing a selection of original Modern Rock singles/covers under his solo project Shell Of Bliss.
Marcelo currently resides in Austin, TX and has circled back to his roots as a multi-instrumentalist, composing and recording Spanish/Flamenco Fusion acoustic guitar pieces over various ethereal soundscapes, aimed at music placements for commercials, TV and film. He’s also an active guitar and bass instructor, along with mixing various online music projects from his personal studio.
New music to come in 2025...stay tuned!
